Re: Monday 1/17

No snow at the swamp yet. Just more ice volcanoes from the ice fishermen.

Monday 1/17

Winged it on Big Muskego with skis. It's too rough for skates and the wind as kinda light, but with a wing, it's a quick setup and packup anyway.

Re: Sun 1/9

Sounds like the place to be for ice skates is Little Muskego and the place for anything else is the bagel. Big Muskego is rough. patchy snow, rough ice, and smoother ice all unevenly spread out. I was winging with skis with Big Joe when I hit rough ice and went down on my elbow. Oof, I wish I had ho...

Re: Where to go tomorrow ( Saturday)

Well that was....underwhelming. Veteran's has plenty of grass showing through the snow and the wind was 14-20mph. Mostly 14. Mat is ready to ride now and a couple of guys on snowboards and Naish wings tried to make it work, but there just wasn't enough wind for a wing or snow for a snowboard.

Re: Where to go tomorrow ( Saturday)

SSE would work on Big Muskego, but I don't know if the ice is safe out that far. The cattail islands generate heat as they decay etc. It might be fine, but have gone through the ice out there on skis within site of an ice shanty..... I'm going to Veteran's park to ride with Mat E., who just finished...

Re: New years day, 2022

I'm encouraged the temp dropped enough that snow at the lakefront won't be slush but will be sticky enough not to blow off. Lakeshore State Park is only big enough for two kites maybe, but the wind will be slightly cleaner than Vet's. I'm going to scout some fields right now before the snow starts. ...

Re: New years day, 2022

A big field with smooth grass underneath is what I hope for. I think the lakefront might be to soggy/slushy for much accumulation. Anyone know of any good fields south of Milwaukee?

Thurs. 12/16 Swamp

Big Muskego is open water. It's still very gusty and the water is very cold, so be careful.
