I'll be at Sheboygan tomorrow about 4:00. The forecast looks great.

Bradford for me, that way I skip the hour drive each way and get more afternoon kiting. Same plan Saturday if forecast holds... I kinda like the big beach area now that swimmers have retreated for the year...

JV, if I lived where you do, I'd make the same choice. "Never leave wind to find wind!"

For me the drive is the same to either place. With the forecast we have for today, Sheboygan will be more wind, cleaner water and cleaner waves. The big beach is nice, but mowed grass for rigging, launching and landing, right next to your car is pretty sweet.

I generally agree with jv, but you simply cannot beat Sheboygan on S wind. Best wind on lake michigan. A one hour drive is worth it for those conditions. Guys were riding in board shorts yesterday...

A little birdie told me the Madison crew is going to be in Sheboygan as well. Should be a decent number of kiters. Hope to see you all out there.

Just a reminder, there will be a handful of beginners out there. As an experienced rider, please stear clear of someone you detect as a student or beginner.

Yesterday I visited Silver Lake where I learned to windsurf more than 30 years ago. Have not visited there in past 20 years, but was reminded how nice of a wind sport beach it is at the county park on east end. This place works great for all but due east wind, with sandy beach and shallow sand for quite a way out. Alse lots of grassy rigging also. I know chicago windsurfers use that beach especially after labor day when the whole beach is open to windsurfing/kiting. Not going there today, but intend to this fall now that my little muskego is drawn down and I cannot use water off mt shore or island.

Powerman - if you give lessons now you should check this beach out sometime, would be ideal for lessons and only 30 minutes from boxhorn...

Should be at Bradford by 1:30 ish given forecast...

Don, one part of your post caught my eye... Where is the grass area for launching in Sheboygan? Are you launching somewhere besides High Avenue Beach??

There is a grass field north of the park where everyone has moved to. The old launch isn't really there now with the high water. I think I am going to try to head to McKinley in 30 min. Have to be back home by 3:30 though so hopefully I can get a quick set in.

jv, clara avenue. It's the street just north of King park. Huge grassy field. You'll see a bunch of cars. Just head east towards the lake and where Clara ave deadends is the spot. Can't miss it.

JJ is a local that lives right there and does a great job of helping everyone out there and managing relationships. You should come check it out. I'm heading up that way now, maybe see you later.

@ jv, I am doing some part time instruction and will definitely check out silver lake. Big M is ok, but not ideal for teaching and On S, SE, NE, the big lake is so difficult for beginners.

We need to have a beer or three and talk about this place, this is the first I've heard about it.

How was Sheboygan today?

Bradford was solid with 12m and foil

I got there about 4, and things were getting pretty light. I started with 15m and TT, and switched to my Sector 60 with the 15m kite. Still OK for that combo, which is close to what you get with a 12m and foil board. When I packed up, the guys still out there were mostly on foil boards. Reports said solid conditions all day until about when I got there. Sucks to have a day job this time of year.

I rode between Bradford and McKinley and went to he harbor some. Raced a big sailboat - not sure he was racing, but if he tried it would not have been close. I walked past him like it was nothing. It was still fun riding around them. I had started with the foil and switched to a TT to get some air. It was all on the 12m kite and I never had a time when the 12 was not enough. The air was very stable and the waves not out of control. Very glad I was able to get out, it had been too long!!

I danced with the waves strapless while Big Joe raced back and forth. The disorganized waves was like a playground... :)
