Tuesday 9/10

Postby dmonn » Tue Sep 10, 2019 8:55 am

Weather permitting, I'll be at Pike Lake today about 3:15. As of last weekend, the swim buoys were still in the water. I'll post when they are pulled out. At that point Pike becomes a much friendlier launch site. Right now the weeds are no problem for TT or directionals (like my Sector 60 with the giant fins), but close enough to the surface in a lot of places to make foilboards a hassle.

Was supposed to be warm (85+) and windy (20-30 sw) today at home right now, but air is still and has not gone over 12 all day. Huge disappointment as I sit here looking at lake right now, radar and other wind readings convince me it will be hit and miss at best everywhere. Rats!!!

I tried Pike. By the time I got rigged up, the wind had crapped out. It sucked.

On a brighter note, the swim buoys are not in the water any more, so we can launch from the beach!

Yeah, I tried over at Big M and there was nothing. Hopeful for a real nice day Friday. Cooler but windier.

Powerman--how are the weeds on Big M? Still up high enough to snag lines if your kite comes down?

With the swim buoys gone at Pike, the beach there works as a great launch site and no weed issues at all. Even at the north end where the water is very shallow I haven't had a weed issue. That's where I'll head tomorrow after school. If the forecast holds true, I should be there about 3:30.

Weeds are not terrible. Keep in mind this is Big M we are talking about so if you put your kite down in certain areas you are dead, but otherwise it's far better than last year. Still doing lessons where last year at this time we couldn't even do lessons.

I'll be at Big M from 1 to dusk tonight, riding a bit around noon and then lessons from 1pm on.
