Tuesday 9/8

Postby dmonn » Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:23 am

Timing today looks important. Right now (8:30 am) we've got a break in the rain and the wind is already pretty good. More wind later, but also more rain. It looks like the next round of rain could hold off until after noon, but plenty of additional rain in the afternoon. A morning session is what I'm looking at. If I get an early enough start, I'll stop off at Lakeshore Park to check it out. If it looks sketchy I'll head for SSYC. I'll post up either way.

Thanks for heads up for Lakeshore Park Don. I'll head to SSYC sometime early to mid afternoon, looks to be similar conditions all day and I am finishing up some errands.

BBR and I had some good conditions at SSYC (if you like rain and cool weather). We put on an airshow for the folks comfortably sitting in their cars watching us. BBR's jumps were looking great, and right in front of the audience. I wimped out first, but BBR was in before I drove off. Fun, but not as fun as when it's same wind but warm and sunny!

Great day, but still humbling on the wing & foil in rough water. Big learning curve in the waves but incredibly fun to make progress! Also great to see Dalius and Ryan also wing foiling, Dalius as usual seems to have made the most progress.

Sorry Jeff, I did intend to stay and share that beer so I went back out when you went out, but I was exhausted from hours with wing already and got cold. Good to get home in a hot shower!! Next time.

P.S. : For those who do not already know this, the wing demands a LOT of energy, I have found 3 hours is as much as I can possibly handle in waves. Unlike kiting, there does not seem to be a 'resting' mode...

Missed my beer Jeff. Be sure to keep it cold for next time.

Wow what a great session tonight. It was a little gusty around 4 and by 6pm I was lit on my 10m and it was steady.

My favorite part of my session was surfing at the southern opening on the break wall just in front of the FBI building. 6 ft clean waves and just the right amount of wind. Best part was the wind direction, a single tack from the southern gap back to the beach. Got going fast enough my lines were whistling at me. Ah, feels like fall winds.
