For those of us not native to Wisconsin- what does that mean? Can’t physically ride or dangerous to come into contact?

Not just in Wisconsin. I have seen practically all of Lake Eyrie closed to water contact for same reason. Local health officials often step in and close beaches. I think if you google it you will find you will want to avoid it.

Yikes- there was a bunch of small green algae washed up at Sheboygan last week. Maybe 1mm in size, but all over the shoreline.

Don't eat it! Don't let your dogs or kids eat it. Don't roll around in the surf at shore. Otherwise IMO it's OK to ride on Lake Michigan. I don't know about Pike. I haven't seen it piling up on shore there yet, but best to avoid lakes that have a lot of it.
