Cold Water Wetsuits?

Postby hendrikse » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:35 pm

I am wondering what the reviews are on cold water wetsuits. I have been looking at a 5/4 quicksilver - $350 w/ hood, 5/4/3 NPX assassin - $250 + hood, and 5/4 hyperflex cyclone - $150 + hood. Am I in the ballpark or is there something better for my money?

So I don't sound like a pimp, because I sell Mystic, Prolimit, and NPX/Neil Pryde, I'll direct you to Ryan H. (Ripshade), Hollywood, and Andy (AndyMorter) who all have NPX wetsuits. PM or email them and see what they say.

Thanks,
Stafford

I have the 5/4 Zealot (no hood) and i love it. It is a great lake michigan suit and I wore it a few times during the summer without over heating too badly. Really flexible and comfortable. I am tempted to try it out right now but I have a drysuit for when its this cold. Once the air temps hit consistent 50's I'll be in the zealot. Right now....I'm thinking dry suit.
Maybe I'm just a wuss. Anyone else been out in a 5/4 or 6/4 for that matter this year yet?

I have a 6/4 Zealot with hood. It's friggin awesome. I picked it up from stafford and love it. I also have the lucifer drysuit and like that as well, it's just not as streamline through the water however it does a decent job keeping me dry and the hood is great for cutting the really cold wind against your head/face. The other bonus about the dry suit is that you can listen to your ipod as long as you have waterproof headphones. I have to say that is a pretty sweet feature as well.

Oh yeah, I was in the lucifer drysuit this past saturday, (water temp 37, air temp 43) and in the Zealot 6/4 on sunday (same conditions) and had no issues with either. I was fine in both.
